What is My Home for Life?
My Home for Life (MHFL) is a private-pay, subscription-based services program designed to help seniors live independently in their own homes. The concept was developed and researched by JABA Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) as part of their mission to add dignity, security, independence and fulfillment to the lives of older adults and their families. MHFL is a service that will help seniors stay in the home they are used to, and that they love. We believe the uncertainty of maintaining a home should never force someone to move.

How much does it cost?
The membership fee is $20 per month for individuals and $25 per month for couples. Payments may be made on an annual or monthly basis.

What's included in a My Home for Life membership?
MHFL membership provides the security and peace of mind of knowing that any home based need will be taken care of in a timely manner, by a high quality, trusted vendor. Member receives coordinated access to a variety of local vendors - with one phone call. These vendors have been thoroughly evaluated (references checked, license reviewed, insurance verified) and have agreed to perform to a specific set of standards. MHFL staff coordinates all services for members - whether it be home health care, transportation, yard work - anything that can be done around the home. Members have the peace of mind and backing of the JABA organization to know that they will receive high quality, prompt, reliable services from qualified vendors - with one phone call to MHFL.

Does My Home for Life provide discounts?
Some MHFL vendors have agreed to provide discounts to members, but MHFL vendors are not required to provide discounts. The vendors have agreed to provide the lowest possible rate to MHFL members.

When I receive services from a MHFL vendor, do I pay the vendor or My Home for Life?
The MHFL vendor will bill MHFL member directly for services and or products provided, with a clear, concise and understandable invoice after services are provided. The vendor will discuss payment terms with the customer before the service is provided.

Who are the vendors and how were they chosen?
MHFL vendors have been in business for years, have excellent reputations, many references, and have been screened by the MHFL team. They all have appropriate licenses, insurance and bonding, and are responsible for background checks for employees.

Can a vendor pay to be on the list?
No. MHFL strives to be objective, and so its revenue comes from subscription fees only.

What if I have a problem with a vendor?
MHFL staff is available to help resolve an issues or misunderstandings that may take place between the member and vendor.

Do you rate the vendors?
Yes. After every transaction, the member will be called to provide an assessment of the vendor. This assessment will rate the vendor's performance on five qualities: promptness, reliability, performance, price, and quality. The results of the assessment will be used to insure the member was satisfied with the service, and improve future services to members.

How do I sign up for a My Home for Life membership?
Request a membership agreement by calling the My Home for Life office (977-6435) or email info@myhomeforlife.org

What if I sign up and don't like it?
We believe that having the security and peace of mind of knowing there is a group of caring people ready to coordinate anything that needs to be done around the home is priceless, but if you do wish to cancel, just submit a cancellation request prior to the scheduled renewal date.
